The Plex

The echoplex is back, Rock Hard Inc. re-issues original echoplex design as ThePLEX!

the processor Formally known as EchoPlex!

There are few musical experiences as satisfying as plugging an EchoPlex between a guitar and an amp. From snappy slapback echos to cascading flurries of notes to riffs that bounce off each other in perfect rhythm, the effects created by an EchoPlex pro- vide infinite creative possibilities. Rock Hard,Inc.has started manu- facturing an amazing y accurate re- production of EP-2 EchoPlex called "The Plex".Housed in a Tolex-covered box with a snap-shut latch and a car- rying handle, just like the original. The Plex has a familiar,retro-style ap- pearance, but thanks to the use of modern materials and components, the unit weighs considerably less than the original version. But the lighter weight is about the only dif- ference between The Plex and the original EP-2.Every aspect of the EP- 2's tone was analyzed in detail, and a circuit was developed that dupli- cates this tone with all of the warmth, fullness and character intact. Playing through The Plex is like go- ing back in time. After getting used to the ultra-clean charac- teristics of digital delays, it is easy to forget what a real echo unit is supposed to sound like, and if you've never experienced this before you are in for a real treat. The more you play with The Plex, the more it feels like you are controlling another instru- ment instead of playing an effect that is controlling you.

ECHO DELAY CONTROL - This control allows you to adjust length of echo delay in an infinite number of increments. This means you can set your own tempo instead of having to play with a pre-set tempo. On the top of the cover plate you will see a numbered scale. This represents no set units. It is only a log scale to reference where the tempo and echo delay is located on a particular song.

ECHO OFF - Allows you to turn the echo on and off via a foot pedal.

BALANCE CONTROL - The balance control allows you to adjust from dry to only echo, and anywhere in between.

REPEAT CONTROL - This allows you to adjust the number of repeats per echo.

RECORD LEVEL ADJUSTMENT - Record knob increases the amount of tape saturation. It will increase the intensity of echo as the tape becomes more saturated.Over saturation of tape will increase distortion level.

OUTPUT - To amp.

INPUT - Pull slide bar to the right. This engages the pinch roller for recording and provides a 1/4" jack for guitar.

PLAYBACK FEATURE - This feature enables you to record a two minute loop that you can then play an accompaniment to.This is not sound on sound as in the EP 5,and takes a great deal of experience and accuracy to accomplish. This can be done by engaging the foot switch.
