The
Audio Playground Synthesizer Museum( the wave of the future)
Back in 1984 a company called PPG out of Germany
made something called the
PPG Realizer. it basically was a computer with software to emulate
a MiniMoog
( with plans to add software rev. that would emulate other keyboards
like the
ARP 2600 and others) the unit was way to expensive for what it
did and the
processor speed was to slow. so only 2 were made. And from that
Unit
I came up with some Ideas of what would be kool and would be able
to be done in the future.
I saw this in 1992 as the way that synthesizer would must likely
go. And as
I watch our home computers get faster and cheaper, I am seeing
my vision
come true. I think that one day we will be able to get any keyboard
we could
ever want in our computer. we will be able to hop on the World
Wide Web and
download a minimoog or Korg Prophecy from a company site and run
it on your
computer. and even a keyboard controller with a modem that can
also jump on
the Web go to its company site and with your account download
any keyboard
or set of sounds for you to play that night from anywhere around
the world.
I love analogs but just think what you could do with all that power.
Here are some of the companys and software synths making up the
future.
